~ through the clearing ~

We Interrupt Poetry Month (before it even begins) To Bring You This Special Bulletin:

So, last spring I resolved to begin writing again, this time with a new and concentrated fervor. I have done a good job of keeping the blog rolling, even if it was with short and simple posts at times.

After some persuasion, I submitted two articles to Burnside Writers Collective over the past year, and was honored to have them published and to be listed as a contributor.

Back in November, I announced my promotion to the MOL Jr, Board of Directors (whatever that is). This position held absolutely no responsibilities, but was an honorable recognition, nonetheless. It was chiefly a recognition that what I wrote was worth reading... or that I supplied Fauss with the required amount of Coke points...

Also in November, I subjected myself to participating in NaNoWriMo and churned out over 30,000 words toward a potential novel. I’ve already scheduled a writing retreat in autumn to correspond with the Ozark Creative Writers Conference and allow me to focus some more time on listening to the characters of my novel.

A few months ago, I was asked to join the team at IVM Communications, providing freelance copywriting assistance to clients as needed.

And now... (frekin' annoying drumroll please...)

I am excited to announce that I am joining the editorial team over at
Jesus Manifesto!

Mark Van Steenwyk has a great thing going on over at JM, and I am really looking forward to working with him and Michael Cline, building up the site's content and readership.

My responsibility is to focus on the areas of culture and aesthetics, to review and post submissions in these areas, to contribute some of my own stuff, and to search out new contributors. If I start stalking your blog, do not be alarmed... I only want you for your mind!

So, thank you to Mark and Michael for allowing me to join their team, and thank you to all of you who have been such an encouragement to me in my journey toward the writing life. I look forward to continuing to explore the roadside landmarks with all of you.

You are certainly deserving, Kimberly. You'll bring some much-needed style and passion to the team. I'm excited about the next leg of the JM journey. Welcome aboard!

I follow this blog and love it, especially the satire section...

Very impressive. It takes nerve to submit in any form. You should do a post on good jesus-loving writerly blogs. I have only recently come up for air from mommy-land, and before that was my MFA time here in Fayetteville. I miss the writing life and have enjoyed reading about yours. Definitely keep us posted on your published articles, too. It's encouraging.
