I'm dying to get some sleep, baby.

I finally caved and started reading Twilight, and I’ll admit that I like it a lot.

In the movie, the aptly named Edward was a bit too Edward Scissorhands for my taste... but I was sucked in anyway. Reading the first book, I can't help but picture Bella Swan and Edward Cullen as Angela Chase and Jordan Catalano from My So Called Life. Seriously people, the brooding eyes, the neurotic conversations, the all-around awkwardness of the relationship? Only in this case, Angela is a brunette, Jordan is intelligent (oh... and a vampire), Rayanne is innocent, Ricky is straight, Cousin Tito is still nowhere to be found, and Brian is... well, Brian is still Brian.

I quickly found myself mentally filing away certain songs on my itunes (which I tend to keep on shuffle) as good companions to the book. Not so much word-for-word fits, but just subtle background music, like a soundtrack.

So, here are my selections so far, and I would love to hear yours:

Stone, Adam Again

I Held Her in my Arms, The Violent Femmes

Singing in my Sleep, Semisonic

All I Want, Toad the Wet Sprocket (though, the Mutual Admiration Society version may be more appropriate, adding the haunting female voice)

Say You Love Me, Fleetwood Mac

The Worst is my Being Alone, Waterdeep

Crazy for You, Madonna

Who’s Gonna Drive You Home, The Cars

Lost In Your Eyes, Debbie Gibson
