~ do this, don't do that ~

Attn: General Public

The following is NOT a speed limit sign:
It does not indicate that all traffic flow should slow to 40 mph.
(…even if it is month-end and there are several lining the highway)

This IS a speed limit sign:
It means you can travel up to 60 mph, even if you are passing lots of cars with the star on them.

While we’re on the subject,

This is a yield sign:
If this sign is pointed at me and not at you, that means you should GO. While I can appreciate the gesture of you stopping and waving me through (why are you in such a good mood so early in the morning, anyway?), your actions serve to create confusion and frustration in all of our fellow drivers.

(Conversely, if the sign is pointed at you and not at me, please understand that I plan to go and if you choose to do the same much screaming will ensue).

This concludes our lesson for today, kids.

Delightfully snippy and yet more eloquent than the profanity-laced tirades that slip out in the unhearable confines of my car.
